Digital Health Works Becomes a Distributor for BIOTRONIK Inc., with AccessMRI as the Flagship Product
What the partnership means for radiology teams that need a standardized MRI pathway for patients with implants
Digital Health Works has entered a distribution partnership with BIOTRONIK Inc., the US organization of BIOTRONIK. Under the agreement, Digital Health Works represents BIOTRONIK's digital workflow products to hospitals and imaging centers in the United States. The flagship product of the partnership is AccessMRI, a case-based MR-safety workflow and documentation platform for patients with implants.
For us, this is the natural next step in work we have done for some time. For the radiology teams we talk to, it means one point of contact for demos, onboarding and day-to-day support of AccessMRI, backed by the company that builds it.
Why AccessMRI
Patients with pacemakers, defibrillators and other active implants are still routinely delayed or turned away from MRI. The devices are, in most cases, MR conditional; the problem is the clearance process. Each case depends on finding the right labeling, confirming the conditions for the scanner in the room, coordinating radiology and cardiology, and documenting who did what and when. Most sites handle it case by case, with a spreadsheet, a phone call and a lot of institutional memory.
AccessMRI replaces that with one documented path. It pairs a protocol developed for radiology clinics with cloud software that complements the EHR/RIS: every device is matched against a human-curated reference database that surfaces the exact MR conditions for the scan, every step is time- and role-stamped, and every case closes as a consistent, auditable record. It supports cardiac implants from every major manufacturer (Abbott, Biotronik, Boston Scientific, LivaNova, Medtronic, MicroPort and Vitatron) and is built on the Barts Health and Sheffield NHS programs and five years of live use.
The second half of the product is just as important as the first. Each case produces two reports: a case billing report for the clinic and a monthly service report for finance. Both document the team's time and tasks against the CMS MR-safety codes, so the billing team has the record it needs without added work. AccessMRI does not assign codes, submit claims, determine medical necessity, or guarantee reimbursement. Pricing is based on documented workflow activity, not on which codes are billed or on reimbursement received.
Why a distribution partnership, and why now
Digital Health Works was built to work backwards from the sale. We spend most of our time helping medical technology companies define the buyer, the budget, the procurement path and the sales motion before launch. With AccessMRI, we did exactly that: product strategy, market positioning, revenue modeling, distribution strategy and US launch planning for a specialized workflow that sits between radiology, cardiology, documentation and revenue cycle.
The step from commercialization partner to distributor follows from that work. The buyers are known. The value case is documented. What the product needs now is a commercial team on the ground in the United States that can run demos, manage pilots, support onboarding and stay close to the sites that adopt it. That is the part of commercialization we have always argued cannot be outsourced to a slide deck, and it is the part we are now taking on for BIOTRONIK Inc.
It also reflects how we think partnerships should work. A distribution agreement is only useful when it removes a specific adoption barrier. Here the barrier is operational: imaging centers and hospital radiology departments want to adopt a standardized pathway, but they need a counterpart who understands their workflow, their billing structure and their procurement process. That is the job we have taken on.
What changes for radiology teams
If you are evaluating AccessMRI in the United States, Digital Health Works is now your contact:
- Demos and case reviews. We run online demos and, where it helps, walk through one of your recent cases in AccessMRI so you can see how the pathway maps to your own workflow.
- Pilots and onboarding. We work with your MR safety officer, lead technologist and revenue cycle team to set up the protocol, the user roles and the reporting.
- Commercial terms. There is no upfront cost to start using the system; pricing is based on documented workflow activity.
- Ongoing support. We stay in the account after go-live, with BIOTRONIK behind us for the product itself.
What does not change: AccessMRI remains a BIOTRONIK product, built and maintained by the same team, with the same reference database and the same protocol behind it.
Meet us at RSNA 2026
We will be at RSNA 2026 in Chicago, McCormick Place, from Sunday, November 29 to Wednesday, December 2, booth 4373. You can book a 15-minute demo at the booth with your MR safety officer or lead technologist, schedule an online demo before or after the meeting, or ask us to look at one of your recent cases through AccessMRI.
